Isaac is a Grey, a family of Arcanists whose mission is to collect and guard the magic tools of godlike power left behind by a group of Arcanists that existed 3,000 years ago, now known as the Ancient Ones. Isaac has trained tirelessly for the opportunity to one day retrieve an artifact and finally take up the family's mission. His day has finally come.

Isaac is sent to retrieve an artifact located in a remote forest deep within a giant temple constructed by the Ancient Ones. After completing his mission, Isaac and his family are suddenly ambushed by Arcanists seeking the artifact themselves. After narrowly escaping with their lives, Isaac and his family return home with a worrying revelation: only a Grey would know that they had been sent to the temple.

There is a traitor in the Grey family.

As the Grey's work to find the traitor, unbeknownst to Isaac and his family, they have become the center of a centuries-long plan that is finally coming to fruition. And Isaac himself has become the key in a war that no one knew was still being waged. A war that was supposed to have ended 3,000 years ago.
