Dionysus, god of theatre, wine and ritual madness, runs two theatres in Victorian London. Assisted by his maenads, Mags and Leah, his otherwise quiet existence is threatened by the rogue goddess Lilitu and a tribe of shape-shifting rakshasa demons trying to take back the Earth for their own.

The problem is, Dionysus seems more concerned with show business and being drunk than saving the world.

When the rakshasas enlist a magician who can create a gateway directly to Hell and obtain a perpetual motion machine that can supply them with limitless energy, things get very uncomfortable for poor old Dionysus. At least his maenads are the most dangerous women in the world-someone has to show the fallen gods how things are done.
