Perfect ending

I became a Lynda Rutledge fan after reading West with Giraffes. This summer I read Mockingbird Summer, another favorite, and Faith Bass Darling's Last Garage Sale. From the reviews and description of Last Garage Sale, I expected this story to be more humorous. Instead, I found myself pulled into a "tug-at-your-heartstrings" story where the main character is struggling with Alzheimers. Faith decides to spend the last day of the century hauling all of her ancestor's prized heirlooms to the lawn to be sold for a handful of coins and dollar bills. The townsfolk's come in droves to snap up these rare antiques while the local antique dealer tries to talk Faith into letting her hold an auction. Bobbie, the antique dealer, finally calls Faith's daughter to talk some sense into her mother. As the last day of the century draws to a close, each character battles with clinging too tightly to memories and material possessions.
