Faith and Obedience

Generally, we view affliction as a set of circumstances we would like to avoid. However, God has a way of generating a polished product out of some of the most unfortunate circumstances. I was not following God during this time of my life, but God was about to facilitate my salvation and bridge the gap between my unrighteousness and His righteousness. Obedience was the turning point of my life, but it was a byproduct of faith that was essentially a result of my relationship with Christ.

I shot and injured three Atlanta Police Department (APD) officers. As I opened the door of my mom's house, I saw masked men and began shooting. The first shot struck one officer in the chest, and I began to back pedal down the steps. Without delay I was struck in my leg, almost falling. Two officers were shooting at me. As I felt the projectile strike my knee, I fell to the ground. By this time shots were raining, and my firearm cocked back indicating there was no more ammo. Everything became a blur after I was struck in my groin.

I was laying there exposed with no cover. Death was surely inevitable for me. Trained officers shooting at me merely fifteen feet away. I crawled under the truck until I was on the other side. I lay there in agony. How did I survive such a deadly shooting?

It could have only been God's will for my life. Officers vocalized their hatred as my pain increased. This horrific rollercoaster ride did not reach its end as they began to kick and stomp me repeatedly. All I could do was pray and keep on praying.

Not at that time did the word of the psalmist register but, that event would be the beginning of my walk with God.
