The great majority of persons who read the Bible have never studied Hebrew, Greek, or Aramaic, the original languages of the biblical text. It is certainly not necessary, however, to have studied those languages to understand what the Bible says. When he sent his eternal Word into the world, God intended that it should be proclaimed in the languages of the nations. He has not given us a Word that cannot be understood by those of normal intelligence; that would be unjust. But God is not unjust. He has graciously given to us - to all of us - what we need to know in order to understand and receive the abundant salvation that he offers. This question then: Does faith "alone" suffice?
