I was laid up recently after shoulder surgery recently and had a hard time watching TV or reading. Many memories of growing up in California in the sixties poured out while being laid up. I realized a lot of who I am now came from those experiences. I wrote to capture these life-changing events and small vignettes of a life-style that doesn't exist anymore. After writing more than half of the stories I started to look at the old black and white pictures Dad took of us during that time. Finding these pictures helped me recall other memories of where they were taken and what happened around the picture. These became stories of my teenage year's remembrance, Fair Oaks.
