Faery Rooted traces the roots of what it means to be "born unusual" from mother to child, using Irish faery lore of changelings and religious iconography to examine and hold a flame to the history and complications of genetic neurodiversity. In this collection a mother who grew up strange and had to adjust to fit the world grapples with how to teach her "twice exceptional" daughter that her differences, at times, can be gifts.
