Great book!

I bought this for my dad for Christmas and he really enjoyed it. Thought it was a great book.

Great Story with Great Photos

I wasn't sure what I was getting into when I picked up "Faces of War: The Untold Story Of Edward Steichen's WWII Photographers" by Mark D. Faram. What a pleasant surprise awaited me. It was like finding a toy at the bottom of a Jacker Jack box when I was a kid. I had no clue as to even who Edward Steichen was - let alone the men under his command. It was truly interesting to discover this whole story and see the wonderful photographs. The author has done some great research and weaves the story together so that it is not just reading dry history but is great entertainment. The Bonus DVD is just that - a huge bonus for the reader! What a great attachment and is well worth the price of the book alone. I give this book my personal recommendation and will tell others about it. This book is not just for history, or WWII buffs, or even for those photographers - this book will appeal to all kinds of readers because it is human story that is fascinating.

A Collection of War Pictures and the Men Who Took Them

While Edward Steichen may be best known for his fashion photography for Condé Nast, he was also one of the truly influential war photographers in both World War I and II. In //Faces of War//, Mark Faram has collected a number of photos taken by Steichen and the other photographers in the Aviation Photographic Unit, stationed with military units in the Pacific Theater. These men went into combat alongside the soldiers, risking their lives to take pictures for the American public at home. Drawn from the National Archives, this book is not only a collection of war pictures, but the story of the men that took them. This is a little known part of World War II history, and a very telling and interesting book. A DVD with video footage, interviews, and more information is also included.
