Faces In Peril And Emerging Truths

Must all stories be nice? Whether we have admitted it or not, we have faced barriers and obstacles in life, as part of growing up. We confronted newer, pending hurdles. We learned to grasp reality and then work through each of them. In other words, many of us have managed to do quite well. Others have learned to use the resources made available to us. Life goes on without any squeaks to hear, for we choose the best part to share with others. Therefore, my book, Faces in Peril and Emerging Truths, is composed of poetic collections of self-reflections with added collages of metaphors, similes, satires, paradoxes, and personifications that were used to convey the truth at one point or another from the human consciousness. To us all, life has been rich. It would be hard to account for the difficult moments. If we survive, we could cherish the next day of living. Even with some rich moments, or with some difficult ones that were unbearable, we still found another revelation on which way to move. Faces in Peril and Emerging Truths tries to capture the feelings and realizations of what it takes for some of us to go on and move past the next intersection we face in life. Much of the subject matter that inspired me to compose each poem came from my observations and experiences that were made while living and growing up within my mother's Pike County home of rural Mississippi. I also make observations on how the world has made impressions on me today. So, every day has become an opened door to walk through while discovering newer truths. In the book, voices that were once oppressed and silent, are now heard and captured in some poems. From the context of this book, the narrations provide examples of on-going challenges. As days have passed, people's lives have been impacted. For some people, these challenges have been insurmountable and very little will is left. For other people, those challenges were reconcilable. People were blessed without having to bear the burdens. Overall, the poetic testimonies of feelings and tears have gone uncharted and lost in a population of many people. Some people's voices that you know are echoed in the bodies of each of the poems in the book. Read and see if you are recognized here. I may not know you but I'm presenting universal experiences.
