Face Value

This sketch was written following the September 11th attack and focuses on the issue of racial prejudice. Ken returns home from work and asks his wife, Erin, if the insurance adjuster showed up. Erin says "yes," but confesses she didn't let him look at the roof-"he was middle-eastern!" Ken is frustrated by her reaction-"they aren't all terrorists"-and Erin is largely embarrassed. A friend, Sandy, enters to pick up her girls who are playing with Erin's girls. She has a darker skin color, and recounts a story of prejudice she's just experienced in the grocery store. Erin responds sympathetically to her friend and realizes full-well that she too has judged a stranger based solely on the color of his skin.
