F - Stops and Face Plants - Confessions of India's Most Optimistic (And Accident - Prone) Photographer

By Ayan Kumar Nath

In the pantheon of great photographers, some names stand immortal: Ansel Adams, Henri Cartier-Bresson, Annie Leibovitz... and if you ask Vikram Mathur, he's absolutely certain his name belongs among them. The fact that his portfolio primarily features blurry thumbs, accidental selfies, and the rear ends of animals fleeing his approach is merely an artistic choice, not a reflection of talent.

Armed with expensive equipment he barely understands and confidence inversely proportional to his skill, Vikram's journey across India leaves a trail of drowned cameras, abandoned motorcycles, and baffled locals wondering if perhaps photography isn't his calling. But where others see disaster, Vikram sees artistic opportunity-usually right before he falls into it.
