Eyewitness to His Glory is written for anyone at any level of education or Christian experience. So many commentaries require other commentaries for everyday students of the Bible with less than a formal seminary education. Eyewitness to His Glory examines the Gospel of Luke with the goals of basic understanding and practical application. For the better part of three decades I have been teaching God's Word. It is one of the great pleasures of my life to read, meditate, contextualize and apply the principles found in the Bible. For almost every study in those nearly 30 years I have had 3 things in front of me. I have always had my Bible, a pad of paper and a favorite commentary. Those 3 tools have served me well as my church has grown from a small single staff church to a large Christian influence in our city. In this book one of those tools was discarded. After all these years, this is the first study I have ever written without the aid of a commentary and it has been one of the most rewarding endeavors of my life. I simply asked the Holy Spirit to shine a light of understanding upon the written text. I found that the Spirit brought back to my memory things I had studied and learned long ago. During this study I was able to share with my people the things God was revealing to me about the text and not what He had shown others. The result was more than 2 years of weekly study through the awesome Gospel of Luke. My prayer is that the Spirit will bring new and meaningful insight into this inspired writing of Doctor Luke and bring you closer to the Christ about Whom he wrote.
