The interaction of extracellular matrix (ECM) molecules with cells is important for cell differentiation and maintenance of tissue architecture, and elucidating these interactions will contribute to understanding the pathogenesis of many diseases involving ECM, such as rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthrosis, or atherosclerosis.
