Many countries in Africa Set up stock exchange in the early 1990s as a requirement for the introduction of market economies. Ethiopia, the second most populous country in Africa, had passed through different economic and political changes, from the imperial feudal economy and the current market economy and has a growing economy which needs investment on a continuous basis for new ventures as well as for expansion and modernization of existing productive capacity. And, to sustain the annual GDP growth, the country needs new investments, in other words, it needs capital to invest.Stock exchange market provide one means to raise capital, as mobilize savings of investors. Therefore, stock exchange market are essential for the country's overall economic growth.
