Explicit Content: Why You Should Listen to the Shady Side of Hip Hop

By Tani Shaffer

This book explores why a high school dropout from a broken home is one of the most influential icons today. This modern hero plays a significant role in the lives of his fans. As a psychologist, curious investigator in the Hip-Hop community, and mother, I now understand what Eminem means to those who desperately seek authenticity in their role models. Eminem's fans describe how he helped with their transition into a healthy and meaningful adulthood. EXPLICIT CONTENT explains why this phenomenon is so meaningful and why he fills an essential need. Fans from Eminem's Anger Management Tours between 2003-2005 are featured, in their own EXPLICIT CONTENT. "If children were taught to become aware of their shadow, sharing even dark feelings, forgiving themselves for not being 'good' all the time, learning how to release shadow impulses through healthy outlets, then there would be much less damage to society and the ecosystem." -Deepak Chopra, "The Shadow Effect: Illuminating the Hidden Power of Your True Self"
