The expertise of the shamans has been woven through many cultures, stories and myths throughout history. These ancient wisdom keepers were often called upon to cure ailments, perform rituals and divine meaning in life's situations. Their abilities were believed to come from a higher spiritual source, one that could bring forth answers that would benefit individuals and their communities. Unfortunately, over time these shamanic traditions have been lost or replaced by more modern approaches to healing and problem-solving. Their presence and words helped members of their communities express feelings of grief or fear they hadn't been able to express before, bringing an energy into healing which often transformed situations with astonishing speed and depth. Without these practitioners, so much rich human experience may never be shared nor acknowledged - further compounding the sorrowful loss associated with shamans no longer being part of society's fabric. We are truly fortunate if we can still encounter people today who hold on to these ancient ways - ways which teach us how connected we really are, both in body and spirit. But if this type of expertise cannot be experienced then our souls feel a profound loss at all that was never passed down for future generations - whether it's medicine, divination techniques or advice on rites-of-passage from childhood into adulthood. It is only when we allow ourselves to contemplate this absence that we can truly feel the weighty burden carried by those without access to shamans anymore - leaving us feeling heavy hearted yet filled with respect for these noble stewards of humanity's shared heritage.
