There is no doubt that Caidin has knowledge of space and different fields. Sometimes, his extrapolations are farfetched but most of the times they are right on the money. The story is well paced but I feel that the end came a little too fast. Was it supposed to be a 800 page book? Anyway, we understand his point about a new beginning and there is plenty of anecdotes in this book about the best and the worst that the human race can do. It would have made a good movie. I hope a producer picks it up.
Clearly a Winner

Martin Caidin puts you in a world you can almost touch. I have read this book three times and enjoy it each time like an old friend. My original copy had a statment on the cover " soon to be a major motion picture". I've never seen any evidence that the movie was made. I had to hunt for two years in local used book stores to find a copy. Do not take my word for it, if you get a chance read this book.
What would you do if Earth was doomed?

This was one of Caidin's best works. He takes the reader step by step through his characters' thought processes as all life on Earth is about to be extinguished. A chosen few are trained, and sent off world to await a time when the planet could sustain life again. He tells the story in such a realistic way that you believe that humanity *could* prepare for a calamity, and survive off-planet using today's technology. A very engrossing novel.
