This work discusses Heidegger and Einstein and discovers,through these and other authors as important asDarwin, the mystery of what is time. It is argued that thereare two sets of conceptions of time. The first is a cyclicaland / or repeatable time, the fundamental in the history ofhuman thought. To it belongs the notion of time of Einstein.The second is an irreversible and directional time ofwhich we are aware due to aging and death. In it we canplace the concept of time of Heidegger. This workpresents the latest scientific knowledge in physics, evolutionarygenetics, evolutionary linguistics and the psychologyof attachment, among other disciplines, in order to ssubstantiate scientifically the philosophical reflectionspresented as to the nature of time and the meaning ofexistence.
