Alexander Pushkin's unique romantic novel in verse "Evgeni Onegin" is a masterpiece in world literature. At times it was difficult to understand the poetic meaning of some of the words Pushkin used to portray his characters and events. It may be the reason why it has been translated into English more than 45 times since 1880. Scenes from the 19th century Russian aristocracy, the Russian national spirit, and the national and cultural vocabulary, so colourfully given to us by Pushkin, have been treasured and retained in my translation directly from Russian. In the early 19th century, Pushkin's works became famous worldwide and opened up an understanding of Russian culture. All in all, my wish is that the reader will appreciate the poetry. "Alexander Pushkin (1799-1837) is the greatest Russian National Poet and an extraordinary phenomenon of the Russian spirit" - Nicolai Vasilyevich Gogol (1835)
