-Reverend Anne Bridgers St. Albans Episcopal Church

As an advocate of life-long learning, I highly recommend Everyday Women, Extraordinary Wisdom. The author understands and honors the skill of life-driven improvisation. This thought-provoking book reveals the value of women learning to improvise along life's journey by being active listeners and keen observers of themselves as well as others. Readers will learn how improvisation invites new knowledge, broadens perspectives, and develops new abilities, all while creating the joy of empowerment.

-Dr. Sara E. Stevenson, PhD Psychologist and Executive Life Coach & OD Consultant

Everyday Women, Extraordinary Wisdom offers a deeply reflective and engaging account of how women construct meaning through their careers, vocations, and faith, weaving together themes of resilience, identity, and empowerment. Jane M. Everson skillfully elevates personal narratives to illuminate broader sociocultural dynamics. As a social work educator, I believe this book provides a rich framework for understanding the non-linear, improvisational nature of women's lives and work, while underscoring the critical role of self-trust, lifelong learning, and community in fostering individual and collective well-being.

About The Author

After earning degrees in special education and urban services from the University of Virginia and Virginia Commonwealth University, Jane spent 40 years as a high school special education teacher and advocate for adolescents and adults with disabilities and their families. She has lived and worked in Virginia, New York, Louisiana, North Carolina, and South Carolina.

Now retired, Jane lives in Hickory, North Carolina, with her husband and a menagerie of cats and dogs. She advocates for her 93-year-old mother, serves on her local school board, does volunteer work, reads voraciously, dabbles in vegetarian cooking, and creates community connections (and mischief) wherever she can.

While working, Jane authored dozens of written materials and online training modules on special education, leadership, and team building. This is her first "outside-the-box" post-retirement book.
