Book Overview

15-year-old Destiny Willbury is raised in a dogmatic family and church. When her parents discover that she is bisexual, they subject her to conversion therapy and then kick her out of their house. Alone and scared she is rescued by three liberal college students. Arriving in New York City, Destiny meets Mackenzie Guevara, a 14-year-old, alcoholic, runaway. They fall in love and survive together with the help of an upper-middle-class female high school student and a male teenage hustler with a heart of gold and balls of brass. Life comes together for the foursome, but when the boy and the girl must depart to continue their own lives, Mackenzie's drinking increases threatening everything the girls have built.
