Book Overview

Gifted with the ability to time-cross between Victorian-era London and World War II Washington, DC, Kathryn faces two lives fraught with danger. In 1938 amid the looming shadow of war, Kathryn is invited to the London Museum as a guest curator to create a groundbreaking exhibit on Jack the Ripper and his reign of terror. As she delves into her grim research, she uncovers a chilling truth: Her own sister is destined to become the Ripper's final victim decades earlier.

In 1888, in a race against fate, Kathryn is assisted by her handsome childhood friend in hunting down history's most elusive killer. As they unravel the threads of mystery woven through time, Kathryn must decide if she'll unmask the murderer history has chosen to hide, forfeiting a life with the man she loves to save her sister.

amazing time-crossing novel

"What was the praise of several men compared to the true love of one?" I don't know how she does it. Gabrielle Meyer again and again astounds, captivates, and delights her readers with a new addition to her Timeless series. Having read the four previous books, I thought I had seen and read everything she can possibly think of, but, obviously, my imagination is too small and the author's is incomparable. I loved being in 1888 London with Kathryn looking for the elusive Jack the Ripper while trying to prevent her sister from becoming his last victim. I also loved being in 1938 and reconnecting with Grace and Luc while Kathryn worked in a London museum as a visiting curator on creating an exhibit on Jack the Ripper. I know much of the book, especially the speculation on the identity of the notorious serial killer, is purely fictional but it was so fascinating to find clues and pieces to this puzzle with Kathryn in both timelines. Kathryn's headstrong, impulsive, and passionate first person voice was the perfect guide to this fast-paced, suspenseful story, full of intrigue and secrets. The plot differs a little from the previous books in that Kathryn only has one love interest. The intricate twists and turns to the plot remain the bedrock of this book, as the others. I must have read the last half of the book with my mouth hanging open from all the surprises. The grounding faith element was evident in the lives of Grace, Luc, and Austen and it was gratifying to see Kathryn's faith grow throughout the book. It is clearly one of the best books I've read so far in 2025. If you enjoy time-crossing adventures filled with intrigue, mystery, faith, and sweet romance, you will want to read this book and the rest of the series. I received a complimentary copy courtesy of Bethany House via Interviews and Reviews and NetGalley and was under no obligation to post a positive comment. All opinions are my own.
