Education and psychology are inseparable. Education asks, "How do we teach?" Psychology asks, "How does a human being grow, learn, think, feel, and flourish?" The second question is the foundation of the first.
Some of the world's greatest contributors to education were, in essence, psychologists or scholars of human development.Jean Piaget transformed our understanding of how children think.Lev Vygotsky showed how learning develops through social interaction.Maria Montessori built an educational revolution on careful observation of children's psychological needs.Jerome Bruner reshaped modern education through cognitive psychology.Howard Gardner broadened the concept of intelligence.Carl Rogers inspired learner-cantered education.Abraham Maslow connected education with self-actualization.We present the ideas below as a psychologist exploring education through the lens of human development, ethics, and lived experience.
