Term limiting members of congress may not be the answer to the problems facing the governing of this country. An alternative solution to term limits would be for every member of congress, both house and senate, to stand for a national retention vote every 20 years. The entire voting populace of the country, not just the voters in each of their respective districts and states, would vote if congress should remain in office or be turned out of office as a body. Consequently, no matter when elected, all 435 members of the House of Representatives and all 100 members of the Senate could be voted out of office every 20 years.
