Runa is off chasing down another wayward Gira when her prey does something unexpected, gives her information. On what you ask? Try a sister she never knew about, her grandmother who used to be Queen of the Gira, and Sybbyl a witch who's plotting on finding as many bones of the First Witch as she can so she can wipe humans and all those beings who would stand against her from existence.
Brom is a half-Varroki warlock. He's learned some magic and other things by using his talent of "listening in" to the conversation the Varroki and their leader, The Lady of the Varroki Malene have. He's always wanted to travel to find them but up until now hadn't. So his first adventure from his lands is to find this mystery woman and see what he can do for her.
Now we know there has to be a bit of a romance here. It does not disappoint in the sense of they know they have a connection and know it's special but neither knows how to handle it. Trust and sharing is not something either one is good at.
To say that Runa is not thrilled that Brom wants to help her is putting it mildly. She's tough....she's independent....she takes off on her own. Uh oh, not the smartest of moves. But what she learns might just be worth putting herself in the most dangerous position she could find herself in. The Gira have decided she is their new Queen.
Not to worry our boy Brom has been found by Malene and is being let in on a few things. Some he knew most he hadn't thought about. Now can he get back to Runa in time. Will all of them joining forces be enough to stop Sybbyl's plan? Who will survive this battle?
It's worth the read. You get a sense of these characters and can get behind them. In magical worlds anything can happen so there is that sense of the wonder and un-realness of it all. There are a couple of characters that we will mourn their passing? (Hints have been given that maybe just maybe the end wasn't the end. I know could I be anymore cryptic?) So give it a shot and I hope you enjoy the continuation of the Kindred's adventure.
