SHORT SAMPLES FROM EVERGREEN (not whole poems) Gaping generalisations I am not what you call me - this stereotypical label, given unbidden, which somehow means more to you, though it's supposed to be mine. Inner stem of strength Self-protection - my saviour - became my anchor and this anchor empowered. Yearning and learning Nowadays, what is done, seen and heard is a dear gauge to me - of what is and what isn't the reality. Love me Since getting lost in this situation, like a child in a garden maze, the more I give, the less you see. What irony; what quandary. Disequilibrium and distance You see a slice of me; the part formed by my lack of choice. I cede to your will for now. Don't I need to survive somehow? The wrong kind of 'polished' With detail and determination there's another observation. No need for absolute self-condemnation, there's a different consideration; a new orientation. Partial picture This part of my life, you see, is a segment, a snippet, a scene - not wholly past, present, or future. Too much to remedy I'm an integral part of the work team, yet the more settled on paper I seem, the more unsettled I become in reality. But what can I do? I endure stoically. Fleeing a trap Tested out the tentative and failed lots of times until fruitful routes became clear. Unexpectedly, I grew in the face of pain and fear. Tricky minds Intrusive thoughts from the imagination, the type I would never act out and bring to realisation... ...It would only increase the devastation. Potential If I stop trying to learn and grow then I'll never know what I can achieve and how tall my beanstalk of exploration can possibly go.
