Ooey-gooey

Ooey-gooey was a worm. A mighty worm was he. He crawled into the salad bowl. The fork he did not see. “Ooy-gooey” You may want to be aware that this is the first work of the writer Philip Eisner, who only did one other TV movie, Firestarter: Rekindled. A spaceship goes over the event horizon and returns. If you think that it is a stretch of the imagination, wait until you find out what is inside. It would have been more dramatic if they found it near Pluto. This is not sci-fi, it is “all gore.” It is just one gory thing after another with no real thread or purpose other than shocking. After a while, you get immune and then bored waiting for the sci-fi that never happens. They could have been good actors under different circumstances. This movie may be ok for the gooey type of terror, but forget space, and forget the horror that usually depicts subtle changes in environments. See Sam Neill again in “Reilly: Ace of Spies”. A great series in which he sees his death predicted in a painting. If, perchance, you are a Lawrence Fishburne fan, then this will ruin it for you. He was much better in “Othello”. This sorry film cannot justify any genre. And it is not good enough to stand on its own as some new type of combination. As in the movie, Matthew 18:8-9 is good advice for the viewer.
