This book was written by my 4x great aunt, born in Grand Point, Louisiana. (Near Gramercy, Louisiana) She tells of her childhood, and how her mother wanted her to become a nun after the death of her sister. Although she didn't really want to, she followed her mother's wishes and became a nun. She then tells of her life as a nun. When her mother passes away, she asks to be relieved of her duties as a nun, and she was granted her wish by the Vatican. She lives with her brother (my 3x great grandfather), and teaches his children.(Son Maurice is my 2x great grandfather)
I loved the book because it brought life (and my family history) alive. But what truly made this book a miracle is two-fold. This book was originally printed in French. When the local church found out she published a book, they told people to burn it, because they never properly checked to see if the Vatican had properly released her, (They had) and they figured she had said bad things about the church (which she never did.)But not everyone burned the book. My great aunt and a cousin had friends translate the book into English so we could enjoy it. (The miracle that the book survived!)
