Ethnobotanical and phytochemical study of medicinal plants

The aim of the present study is to evaluate the species traditionally used by healers likely to carry out biological activities to help couples with infertility, and to carry out an ethnobotanical and phytochemical study of the medical plant species identified in Kananga. Kananga, our study area, is an administrative town and the capital of Kasa Central province in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). To complete this research, ethnobotanical and phytochemical surveys were carried out among fifty healers in the five communes. 68 plant species were selected, 38 families, of which the Fabaceae 9 (13.2%) are the most widely used, 22 orders, of which the Malpighiales 11 (16.2%) are the most emphasized, ten biological types (Megaphanerophytes 17 (25.0% at the top); Six phytogeographical types (Pantropicales 30 (44.1%); Seven morphological types (Trees and Perennial grasses 22 (32.4% respectively) and eight Diaspora types (Sclerochores (Scleros): 15 (22,1%). Phytochemical analysis led us to determine the chemical screening of plant extracts after analysis: Polyphenols.
