Through a survey conducted among all first-year medical students enrolled in the optional unit "medical research" during the academic year 2020-2021, we have concluded that biomedical research, although essential to the development of medical sciences, must be the subject of all legislative and regulatory attention to avoid abuses and ensure respect for the rights of individuals. In this area, in October 2014 Tunisia made a substantial amendment to the pre-existing legal framework concerning research subjects, the procedures for obtaining consent and for information and compensation, with the main objectives of protecting the rights of the person participating in the experiment, andHowever, shortcomings persist in the following areasunclear, gaps and issues requiring revision.
