She read my poem about teenage life to the class and they enjoyed it, and I knew then that God had blessed me to share my heart. Later in life I had the opportunity to become a trucker, which fit me well because I knew, during my downtime I could keep on writing; so I did, because I just knew, one day it would all work out if I didn't give up.In 1976 I began hauling furniture, potato chips, and I shuttled trucks. Then from 1985 until 2007 I drove for Walmart stores and from 2007 until 2022 I worked for the Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) Transportation department. As a Program Specialist I taught students how to drive the big trucks, and from 2022 to the present I continue to work as a C.D.L. tester with DMACC. One thing I tell myself every day I teach students: "Everybody had a first day, and everybody was new once." That keeps me grounded and to this day I continue to write because I still want to share my heart to bring hope, peace, and love to those who need it the most.Related Subjects
