She is currently working as the International Co-operative Alliance (ICA) Regional Director for Africa. Before that, she worked as Co-operatives Programme Director with the Agricultural Transformation Agency in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Dr Sifa also worked as co-operative unit training co-ordinator with the Department of Economic Development and Tourism in KwaZulu-Natal. She is tenured as a senior lecturer at Africa Nazarene University in Nairobi, Kenya, and has consulted with many different organisations. Her experiences span from serving in different capacities within various organisations both for profit making and non-profit making across many countries.Dr Sifa completed her PhD in Strategic Management at the University of Nairobi in Kenya, and has taught for more than five years at several universities in Africa, teaching both undergraduate and graduate students using various teaching techniques, among them the case methods. She has also been involved in both administrative and academic works at a high level, being a member of the senate and the chair of the MBA programme which she helped to launch. She also is an external examiner for MBA projects. Before joining academia, she worked with both private and public organisations at different levels - among them as management trainee, public relations manager, co-ordinator and director of local NGOs, associate consultant, then lead consultant. Her experience with co-operatives dates back to the 1990s when she worked in an auditing office for the central co-operative for savings and credits in Bukavu.
