This is a book of poetry and two very short stories. I treasure this statement from one of my favorite authors, Jane Austen. It's from Pride and Prejudice and it is Darcy speaking to Elizabeth... "I have been used to consider poetry as the food of love, '' said Darcy. I must agree. A poem satisfied many a hungry heart, from lover to lover. Reciting Shakespeare brings to mind partaking of the best prepared meal, with words so delicious and savory. So I'm bringing you a feast my friends. Long ago as a student in high school I won an award for a poem I wrote entitled, "Lucifer Rising", I didn't write for many years following. It was when I was stripped to the "Essentials" and forced to sit at my computer, conjuring up a picture/event/ experience/feeling with words. The poem "Year of the Locusts" tells the story. Sharing a slice of life where baring my soul was the order of the day. It was a gift for me and now I pass it on to you. Discovering what is fundamental to our lives. What we cannot live without. In the end it is Joy I hope I have brought you even just a little for your lives. Enjoy
