You will find MUSIC. So many times, we aspiring jazz drummers hear vague musical advice from our teachers: "Be musical" "Use dynamics" "Listen". But specifically, how? When? Where? Artt Frank tells you, in simple, specific terms, how to listen, use dynamics, swing and be musical. How about that? You will find the staples of Be-Bop; the ride cymbal, question and answer phrasing between the snare and bass drum, brush concepts. And you will find practical musical advice that you can take straight to the gig and put directly to use. Artt leaves no mystery as to how he listens and what he reacts to. He doesn't bog you down with a ton of transcriptions of drum solos, instead, his book reads like a conversation, much like his playing.
