World in your hand

This compact little atlas puts the world of geography at your fingertips. Very worthwhile for most applications.

Map!

I loved this atlas. This one has a great glossary and has just about everything on the map that you can think of. It gave me a great reference when needed. I am a little defunct at finding good quality maps on the internet and this book helped me greatly.

A Small Atlas Loaded With Facts

ESSENTIAL ATLAS OF THE WORLD lives up to its billing as being concise and fact-filled. In addition to maps, it contains much information about the world such as listings of the richest and poorest countries and the most widely spoken languages.The index-gazeteer is extensive. The major limitation of the book is the small size of the print - a direct result of trying to cram a ton of information into a relatively brief and compact text.

Lightweight and packed with Info

This atlas is the size of a regular book so it's not heavy and inconvenient to use. It doesn't go into as much detail as a big atlas, (which means you're not going to find Bugtussle, Oklahoma in this atlas) but it is still an amazing resource. Besides having beautiful color maps, it has several other great features. It has world flags, political maps, physical maps, time zones, geology maps, climate maps, ocean current maps, biome maps, population maps, language maps, religion maps, ecomony maps, global conflict maps, basic info about each country, a gazetteer, a glossary, and more! A great gift for a student or anyone who loves to browse atlases.

great bargain

This is a great atlas for the price-conscious. What is great about it is the maps, of course. However, what is even better is the maps in front denoting time zones, political hot spots, geographical layout, etc. All this info is available at one glance. The maps are well done. If there is any main complaint, it's simply that I found the legends for the maps to be a bit small and difficult to read. And for those who are looking for really large maps, this may not be the atlas for them. But in my opinion, it is a true bargain
