Yung L. Tong, a mathematical statistician, is an emeritus professor at the School of Mathematics, Georgia Institute of Technology. He received a B.S. degree from National Taiwan University in 1958 and a Ph.D. from the University of Minnesota in 1967, and had been a university professor for 35 years. He had published many articles and 4 research-level books, and had been elected Fellow of the American Statistical Association, Fellow of the Institute of Mathematical Statistics, and a member of the International Statistical Institute. After retiring from teaching and research he had published 3 books in Chinese. He met his wife Ai-Chuan on the campus of the University of Minnesota more than 50 years ago, and they have been living in Atlanta, Georgia for 32 years.
