With the potential war with the Kadestka growing, Hailey, Nemo, Endo and Leso make their way to Silverdale. While they travel, Hailey prays that they can convince Tanet that the elves in Gulmira are behind the disappearing merchant ships. Unfortunately, knowing that dark times were quickly approaching, Hailey feels that she must embrace her nightmares and allows them to guide her and her crew.
When Keo and Kathlyn learn what happened to Pietrus, they realize that someone is attempting to take control of the tower in Crystalmyr. During their search, they discover what became of the other children.
While they deal with the person in the tower, Ivan, Madeline and Matilda continue to wander around Babylon with Patra. With hopes that they can find a way to place her back in control of Marrakesh and find a way home.
