Escape from Terror is an historical novel portraying life in Romania in the 1980s under the murderous reign of the infamous Nicolae Ceausescu. Daniel, chafing under life in Romania, plans an escape with his best friend and an unwelcome intruder. The escape is bungled, costing the lives of Daniel's accomplices. Having narrowly evaded his part in the planned escape under interrogation by the Securitate, Daniel settles into his life of anticipated drudgery. Soon after, he falls in love with a young woman who replaces his desire to escape. When she becomes a believer in Jesus Christ as her personal Savior and determines that she can't marry an unbeliever, Daniel is devastated and reverts to his original goal of escaping. His success in crossing the Danube takes him on a hair-raising journey through three Yugoslav countries, narrowly escaping death while cutting through the double fence into Austria and freedom. He finds his way to America, where he accepts God's intervention in his life by putting his faith in Jesus Christ. Daniel wants citizenship and the good life, but having never surrendered his love for Veronica, he is in a quandary. He is now qualified to marry her, but she is 5,000 miles away behind the Iron Curtain. God had a plan beyond the dreams of Romanians worldwide, the Romania Revolution in December of 1989. Daniel is confronted with a decision. Will he remain in America for the "good life", or will he return to Romania for his love? While fictional, this novel contains significant autobiographical experiences of the author and accurately portrays conditions existing in Romania before and after the revolution.
