Eric, a boy from a bleak future, gets caught in his father's experimental time machine and is taken back to the past, which is actually our present day, where he meets Chelsea. She takes him on visit to the zoo where he sees for the first time, live animals. Amazed, Eric can't believe all the wonderful animals he only learned about in school. Being returned by his father, Eric is teleported back to his time but not before taking with him a dog given to him by Chelsea who he names Kane. The purpose of the book is to make children and their parents aware of the beautiful animals and wildlife all around us, which we take for granted but if we continue on our present patch, Eric's future will become a dark reality.
