Seven years after the death of notorious kidnapper and murderer Art Rassine, violence grips the city.

Now twenty-four years old, Taleah St. Clair is working a copy editor for a weekly newspaper when an explosion rocks an industrial area in the city, injuring Taleah's father Reggie. The attack is first believed to be a terrorist incident, but when the violence escalates, Taleah comes to suspect that her father is being targeted.

As Reggie recovers from the blast, Taleah sets out with the help of her friend Emmanuel to solve the case and save her father's life. When her actions bring the attacks closer to home, the situation grows desperate.
