Studies show that companies that do not implement the ISO 14001 system lose their potential in the competitive market. Therefore, environmental management has become an important tool for companies that want to stand out in the competitive business world, aiming to adopt the principles of sustainability as a whole. In 1972, it was time to firmly anchor environmental issues in the systems of organizations, which was nothing more than the springboard that would lead to further progress for the environment in all areas. The actions of Environmental Management influence the principle of sustainable and environmental planning, aiming at methods that preserve natural raw materials such as water, forests, land and materials. Over the years, a number of companies have adapted to the measures that govern this management, since the vast majority of them have a high impact on the environment and use methods to reduce their impact on nature. Organizations that act in accordance with the standards imposed within Environmental Management can be cited as Petrobras for its varied actions in support of the environment, on the other hand companies can be cited that have not adapted and have generated irreparable marks.
