Environmental impact assessment (EIA) in urban residential subdivisions is an essential step in the process of sustainable urban planning. This study sought to assess the environmental impacts of an urban allotment in the municipality of Malta, Paraíba. The methodology was based on a bibliographical study, field visits, photodocumentation and the use of the Ad Hoc, Check List and Interaction Matrix environmental impact assessment methods. Thirty-five environmental impacts were identified, of which 17% were "Not Significant", 74% "Significant" and 9% "Very Significant". It was found that the abiotic environment had more negative environmental impacts, such as pollution and/or contamination of the soil and/or water sources. Environmental control measures and plans were proposed for the significant negative impacts and to maximize the positive impacts of the project, with the aim of contributing to sustainable urban development and improving the quality of life of the local population.
