Having originally defined the Environmental Geology course, this text is considered the most comprehensive yet readable book for a course at this level. Keller continues to offer the most detailed, current research available. He covers a wide range of topics, discussing everything from fundamental geologic principles to the specifics of environmental law and geologic hazards, from a truly environmental perspective. The Ninth Edition emphasizes the engineering geology approach, with more quantification of relationships, especially in the discussion of soil and rock mechanics and landslides. KEY TOPICS: Philosophy and Fundamental Concepts; Earth Materials and Process; Soils and Environment; Geology and Ecosystems; Introduction to Natural Hazards; Rivers and Flooding; Landslides and Related Phenomena; Earthquakes and Related Phenomena; Volcanic Activity; Coastal Hazards: Coastal Erosion and Hurricanes; Impact of Extraterrestrial Objects; Water Resources; Water Pollution; Mineral Resources and Environment; Energy and Environment; Global Climate Change; Geology and Society. MARKET: A readable, comprehensive reference for environmental geology.

Great Price and Fast Shipping!!

I purchased the book at a great price and it arrived within a few days!

Great text for earth science teachers!

I teach middle school earth science as well as an earth science class for practicing teachers. Keller's work is excellent for science educators because it includes the environmental aspects of earth science. It takes teachers beyond the typical approaches in most earth science texts and creates a deeper and more wholistic understanding. It is the best text I have found for my earth science for teachers course and I highly recommend it.

Excellent New 8th Edition - the Best Seller for 2000

This new Eighth Edition of Enviromental Geology is welcomed by the geology profession in the year 2000. Professor Edward Keller, a leading geomorphologist at the University of California at Santa Barbara, has performed a timely update of his national best-seller to include new information in earthquake hazards, new hyperlinks for students to study geologic hazard information on the Internet, and expansion of two chapters on water supply and water pollution. Excellent color photographs and color diagrams are used throughout. The 8th Edition features use of quantification ("putting some numbers on"), case histories of cogent interest to students, closer looks at important concepts, key terms, study questions, and web hyperlinks. This textbook is highly recommended and will be most appropriate at the Freshman or Sophomore level. It does not assume prior coursework in geology or earth science. It continues to be the #1 seller in North America and is taught throughout all campuses of the University of California system.
