People who follow a vegetarian or vegan diet automatically contribute to reducing greenhouse gas emissions through their choice of diet. As part of this study, participants were asked about their motives for switching to a vegetarian or vegan diet and for maintaining this diet, and the study discussed how the negative environmental impact of animal husbandry is changing as a motivating factor for vegetarian and vegan diets. It also examined whether the 392 participants showed increased environmental awareness and behaviour in the area of nutrition and, beyond that, in the areas of waste separation/waste avoidance and mobility.
