Fred, a helicopter engineer, accepts an offer from a fellow student living in one of the young republics in Africa. To repair helicopters. A military uprising breaks out in the country. Fred manages to escape in

the helicopter of the general leading the uprising. He ends up in a desolate forest. While trying to go to sea, he falls ill after being bitten by an unknown fish in a swamp. One night, he dreams of his deceased wife. He and his wife travel to hell and heaven. He watches how people go to hell and heaven.

He learns about life in hell. As he enters heaven, he hears the sound of a helicopter. He wakes up to this sound. After a few days, he discovers that there are 5 girls and a boy in the area. 4 of the girls are black and one (Umma) is white. Umma becomes the image of Fred's deceased wife. Fred thinks that the general sent Umma to the area with the black girls to find him.

Fred tries to kill Uma several times. But he is fascinated by Uma's resemblance to his late wife.

After the rebellion is suppressed, the government organizes a search for Fred. The work is written in the style of a film story, rich in philosophical thoughts, adventure and feelings of love.
