Currently, successful root canal treatment is based on more broad principles. These include diagnosis and treatment planning, knowledge of anatomy and morphology, and the traditional concepts of debridement, sterilization, and obturation. The major goal of root canal filling is to prevent infection (reinfection) of the root canal via leakage of micro- organisms and their byproducts.
