A First for Women's Baseball Scholarship

This book is the first attempt to compile everything known about the topic of women and baseball into one volume. It is a valuable resource for scholars, particularly because of its extensive bibliography, covering 57 pages and organized by topic. The book is currently the most complete resource on modern day women's baseball. It includes team rosters from current women's teams plus results of women's collegiate and World Cup baseball championships, both domestic and international. The format is an alphabetical compilation of hundreds of subjects relating to women's involvement with the National Pastime. A handful of female players, such as Elizabeth Murphy, and a few teams, such as the AAGPBL's Rockford Peaches, receive several pages of coverage while most subjects receive a paragraph or two. The longest single selection is a 10-page article on Canadian Female Umpires. This book will, no doubt, become a living document, that will be updated as new information becomes available. In the meantime, it is a must-have for any serious student of women's baseball and a fun resource for any fan of the game.

Another piece of the puzzle in the history of women's baseball

A lot research went into this book. Great resource for someone doing research on women's baseball. This book gives many leads to more research. As someone who is interested in the history I find this a good read and it should be helpful as I do some research on the history of wm bb in Michigan. We need to record our history now so people will know we played.
