AN INSTANT #1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER Return to the world of Phantasma in this spicy, stand-alone romantasy, where seven immortal siblings are trapped in a deadly game of hide and seek . . . until one mortal woman changes the rules. The print edition includes custom silver foiling on the cover. Welcome to Enchantra. There's only one rule: Never, ever trust your heart. When Genevieve Grimm's mother dies, she's left with questions no one can answer--until she receives an invitation to Enchantra, a cursed palace in Italy, frozen in time and shrouded in strange fruit. So when the hostile and sinfully handsome Rowin Silver refuses to let her inside, Genevieve finds her own way in . . . only to realize her mistake. For Enchantra is a twisted labyrinth, carved from gleaming silver and thorned hedges, where Rowin and his six siblings are forever trapped in a deadly game, at the mercy of a wicked Devil and his ghastly spectators. Only one occupant of the house can survive. Genevieve now must win or die. Rowin warns her he's the deadliest of the Silvers. That he always wins. That her only chance is to compete as his wife . . . so they must convince their audience that they're desperately in love. And while Genevieve's willing to do whatever it takes to survive, she knows she can't trust Rowin, that the desire burning between them is a lie. After all, it was Rowin who taught her Enchantra's first rule . . . Never, ever trust your heart.
Oh my gosh; please, please, please, please, PLEASE I need more!
Summary:
With a superb atmosphere, tender romance and sweet yet twisted familial love, steamy spice, and another bloody good game, the second of the Wicked Games series did not disappoint! I am excitedly looking forward to the next installment. I really hope it will involve one, or preferably more, of the silver siblings; they are so fun!
Full review:
While the Wicked Games series - Phantasma and Enchantra - have both been located in a particular establishment with the supernatural beings and blood mostly contained, I feel like the whole Gothic Victorian/Baroque vibe set in an alternative world is the perfect balance between supernatural and mundane life. I love learning about the different supernatural beings that live on the mortal plane, and in h*ll - I now want to pet ostridge. Just saying, please read Enchantra for context. Each type of being and character has their own distinct personality, and I feel like we met quite a few in this book, and in Phantasma, that are going to be key players in the series that I pray will be coming set in this world!
And I oh so very much hope that the main characters will be the Silver siblings. I need to know more about them. I adored Rowan and Genevieve's, aka Vivi's, whirlwind enemies to friends to lovers romance. The spice was hot, the sweet moments were tender, and he had a fox familiar that went from distrusting to glued to Vivi's side through the course of the book. FOX! Everything had me giggling and craving the next page, including the carnage of the Hunt. Well, I didn't giggle through that, though the Silver siblings definitely had some humorous moments while they were trying to kill each other for the entertainment of a wicked devil and his audience.
The atmosphere was glorious! The grand manor and lavish party to the surprises Vivi found while in and out of the Hunt were spectacularly detailed. I personally enjoyed the warmer colors of Phantasma with golds and reds, but I also enjoyed the bit cooler atmosphere of Enchantra Manner, silvers, purples, white snow, with touches of gold throughout. The cool color scheme gave aid to the gravity of the Silver siblings' situation, while the warmth of Vivi helped alleviate some of their tension, bringing color into their lives in more ways than one.
I wish I could gush more about how much I love this series, and these characters, and how well I've seen the author grow in the short time between the two books, but alas. If I speak anymore, I'm afraid I will give spoilers. So, I will leave you with this: if you like any of the things throughout my review, please, not only give Enchantra but Phantasma a shot... Oh, did I mention there are other animal familiars and "touch her and die" energy? Yep. Now, if you'll excuse me, I am going to go hibernate in a book coma while I wait for the next novel set in this world to be published.
Good, But Boring

I Liked The Book, But It Was A Bit More Boring Compared To Phantasma. I Will Still Keep This In My Collection, But I Will No Longer Be Supporting This Author Due To Her Mental Illness. An Author Should Clearly Know That "They" Means More Than One Person.
