Read it, then share it with your kids!

I'm 41-years-old and normally would not read a book targeted for the 9 to 12-year-old age group. But after reading Ms. Liitle's first book, BREAKAWAY, there was no way I'd pass up her second book. And I wasn't disappointed. ENCHANTED RUNNER was awesome! The research that went into the story is probably more than found in most adult novels. I was blown away by what I learned about the Acoma Culture and the Snake Clan. Visiting Sky City is now on my life's list of things to do. Parents: Do yourselves a favor. Buy this book. Read it, then share it with your kids. Ms Little: Thank you for pouring your soul into the story. I look forward to your next effort and hope there is a sequel to ENCHANTED RUNNER!

An enchanting book.

Enchanted Runner is definitely enchanting. Kimberley Griffiths Little sweeps readers into her story's world; one that is a thoughtful mixture of past and present. Ditto with her characters. From the beginning, I felt Kendall's magic as if I were running beside him as he confronted wild horses, rattlesnakes, heartbreak, and ancient mysteries. I especially enjoyed the contrast between Kendall and Trina, and her curiosity about his secret ceremonies. Kendall's journey was a satisfying one. I hope a sequel is on its way because I'd like to run with him again.

A Powerful Story

I am a teacher of the middle grades and I have never before read a juvenile book that was so different, so uplifting, and so rich with the culture of our Native Americans. Kendall is like so many young people trying to find out who he is and why he has the feelings he does--for Kendall it is his feelings about his mother, his heritage, and about running. I particularly liked his father. He is a positive influence and a parent Kendall can talk to about his feelings. Little is also not afraid to explore all aspects of the Acoma Culture and its deep religious beliefs. It is rich with beautiful language and descriptions that make the area come alive for the reader. The story has an emotional ending that made me cry. Rarely has a juvenile book impacted me so much.

This was a good book.

I am almost eleven and I liked this book because I like to run like Kendall does. I get the same feeling as he does when I run, so it was nice to read about it.

What a beautiful story!

Kimberley Griffiths Little skillfully writes about the confusion of coming from two different worlds and the satisfaction found when those two worlds come together and co-exist. Her descriptions of New Mexico were like taking a trip to the Southwest. And I love her portrayal of Kendall's father as a man who honored his son's heritage and was unafraid to communicate and share all of his emotions. His desire to do what was best for Kendall was touching. I long to know what happened next with Kendall. Will there be a sequel?
