From the author of "EMS, The Job of Your Life" comes the sequel with more adventures, triumphs, tragedies and laughs in "EMS2, The Life of Your Job." If you're an EMT, know anyone who wants to be, or... This description may be from another edition of this product.
I've read pretty much every book out there written by EMTs or paramedics about their experiences. I have to say that this is my favorite one thus far. Not only does the author have fantastic stories to tell but he writes very well. I have read both of Devin's books and all I can say is, I hope there's going to be a third!
Can't wait for #3...

This book is hilarious, just like the first one was. I don't know why truebluemedic thinks that because of books like this people have less respect for EMS people. I actually have more. I'm glad there are people out there who are ready to get thrown up on, fought with and all the other stuff that can happen on the job to save those that are in trouble. And I think it's cool that instead of whining and complaining they're able to have a good time. If I needed help, I'd want my paramedic to be in a good mood. The book, just like the first one has a bunch of stories seasoned with random thoughts collected over a number of years on the job. I'm sure people who do 9-1-1 jobs will find that they have been through some very similar situations. And the rest of us can learn a great deal about what it's like being in EMS. So anyway, if you like reading real-life stories and like a book that makes you laugh out loud, get a copy of this. (And the first one too! :)
Kerins allows us to laugh

To say that we get no respect as a profession because of Devin's books is insane! We could debate why for hours but it has nothing to do with a couple of silly books about one person's experiences. I don't see burn out reading these books. I see someone with heart, honesty, and the courage to write books that go against the conventions of what people would normally expect from an EMS book. There's no hero worship here, he's not claiming to be the 'be all, end all' of EMS. And I think he pokes fun at himself just as much, if not more than anyone else in these books. He dares to speak what everyone in EMS thinks. I've never met anyone who hasn't laughed at a funny situation on a call. TV an movies have been portraying EMS in a bad light since the days of "Mother, Juggs, and Speed." Devin dares to show you that EMS professionals are not supermen and superwomen, but ordinary people, with ordinary weaknesses, and ordinary senses of humor. I'm glad someone finally had the nerve to write a book that speaks what's on my mind! Great job Mr Kerins!
laugh out loud in an empty room

Now for me to laugh out loud reading a book is rare and I did it numerous times reading this book. I didn't read the first one yet but I'm jumping on that bandwagon now. I loved this book so much. It was funny and true, and not so melodramatic. All I can say is a member of my squad knows Devin, and at this point I think I'll be begging him to bring Devin around. As a writer and passionate EMT, I think I idolize the guy. Great great book.
Another Home Run!

Devin does it again! Every bit as funny as the first, with a seemingly endless supply of humor and heart. I think its even more well written then the first. I couldn't put it down. Great job, and definitely worth the wait! Another home run for Paramedic Kerins.
